LISBON: Ovide J.B. Menard, 90, of Lisbon passed away peacefully Sunday night at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Brunswick on December 4, 1924, a son of the late Phillip and Rosalie (St. Pierre) Menard. He grew up in the Brunswick area and attended local schools there. Ovide decided at a young age to leave school so that he could help his family out more by working on the family farm. LISBON: Ovide J.B. Menard, 90, of Lisbon passed away peacefully Sunday night at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Brunswick on December 4, 1924, a son of the late Phillip and Rosalie (St. Pierre) Menard. He grew up in the Brunswick area and attended local schools there. Ovide decided at a young age to leave school so that he could help his family out more by working on the family farm. In 1943 he enlisted into the United States Army and proudly served his country as an engineer in the armed forces until his discharge in 1946. Later that same year on June 22 he married Madeleine Coulombe at St. John's Church in Brunswick and the two of them started a family together. Over the years Ovide was commonly known as a "jack of all trades" who could specialize in cooking, baking, building and repairing. He was also a fireman for 11 years in the Brunswick Fire Dept. He will also be remembered for his love of fishing and playing golf. He was a former member of the Litchfield Seniors as well. He is survived by his loving wife Madeleine of Lisbon, his children Henry Menard and his wife Ann of Brunswick and Connie Fowler and her husband Ken of Lisbon Falls. He also leaves behind a sister, Lucille Caouette of Winslow, two grandchildren; David Menard of Memphis, TN and Cathy Williams of Lisbon Falls; four great-grandchildren; Alicia and Natalie Menard and Brett and Jared Williams and three great-great grandchildren; Blake Williams and Shannon and Kaelyn Chartier along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, eleven sisters and a grandson Danny Menard. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ovide at a later date at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls and interment will eventually take place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta where he and his wife will be laid to rest together at the same time.
